Information We Collect

When you use Resuzen in guest mode, your resume is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. We never save it to our database — no account or record of it exists on our side. Generating a preview or PDF does send the resume to our servers, which typeset it and pass it to a LaTeX compile service to produce the file. That content is processed only to build your PDF and is not stored by us afterward.

If you create an account, we collect your email address and the resume data you choose to save. This is stored securely in our database using Supabase with row-level security, meaning only you can access your own data.

We use PostHog to collect product usage analytics — such as which features are used and general navigation patterns — to help us improve the product. When you are signed in, these usage events are associated with your account identifier so we can understand how logged-in users experience the product; we do not use them to build advertising profiles or sell your activity.

When you use our AI features (such as resume tailoring, cover-letter generation, or interview prep), the relevant resume and job-posting content you submit is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) to generate the result. If you subscribe to a paid plan, your billing details are processed by our payment provider (Stripe).

How We Use Your Information

Your resume data is used solely to power the resume builder. We use it to render your resume, generate PDF exports, and sync your work across devices if you have an account.

Your email address is used for authentication and, occasionally, to send important product updates. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.

Usage analytics data is used internally to understand how the product is being used and where improvements are needed. It is never sold, and it is shared only with the analytics provider (PostHog) that processes it on our behalf.

Data Storage & Security

Account data is stored in Supabase, a managed database platform with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Row-level security policies ensure that each user's data is isolated and inaccessible to other users.

Guest mode data lives in your browser's local storage. We never store it in our database, so clearing your browser data permanently deletes it — we would have no copy to restore. It reaches our servers only at the moment you generate a preview or PDF, and only for as long as it takes to produce that file.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. Resuzen uses passwordless sign-in — a one-time code sent to your email, or Google sign-in — so there is no account password to manage; keeping your email or Google account secure is the best way to protect access to your resumes.

Third-Party Services

Vercel — hosts and serves the application. Everything you send to Resuzen, including resume content submitted for PDF generation, passes through Vercel's infrastructure. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy.

Supabase — authentication and database storage for registered users. Subject to Supabase's privacy policy.

Google — identity provider for users who choose "Continue with Google" at sign-in. Google confirms your identity and shares your email address with us; we receive nothing else from your Google account. Not involved if you sign in with an email code. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

LaTeX compile services (latex.ytotech.com, texlive.net) — typeset your resume into a PDF. The document content, including the personal details you put on it, is sent to whichever service handles the request; the PDF is returned to you and nothing is stored there by us.

OpenRouter — routes requests to AI models that power our AI features. The resume and job-posting content you submit to those features is sent here to generate results. Subject to OpenRouter's privacy policy.

Stripe — payment processing for paid subscriptions. Your billing and payment details are handled by Stripe. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.

PostHog — product usage analytics. When you are signed in, events are associated with your account identifier. Subject to PostHog's privacy policy.

Sentry — error and performance monitoring so we can diagnose crashes. Configured to avoid capturing personal data. Subject to Sentry's privacy policy.

Formspree — delivers messages you submit through our contact and feedback forms. Subject to Formspree's privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

Your Rights

You can delete your account yourself at any time from your account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your resumes, cover letters, job applications, interview prep, published resume links and their files, your profile, and your analytics data, and it cancels any active subscription. It cannot be undone. Encrypted backups are retained for up to 90 days before rotating out, after which no copy remains.

You can export your data as a JSON file at any time — a single resume from the builder, or everything we hold for your account from the account page (no deletion required).

If you are in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Cookies

We use a minimal number of cookies — primarily for authentication session management when you are logged in, plus a first-party analytics cookie described below. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

Our analytics provider (PostHog) may set a first-party cookie to distinguish visitors and link activity across a session. When you are signed in, this activity is associated with your account identifier.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of Resuzen after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes that affect how we handle your personal data, we will notify registered users by email.
